Watched the show and was a bit disappointed. Not that he didn't sing well or that I don't like the song - but it wasn't an appearance to attract the attention of new fans, really. For those of us who "know" his writing and his style it was fine, but surely a livelier song and a bit more sprucing were in order for a national TV appearance. Frustrating.
Does he deliberately hobble himself?

I think it was the BEST choice.

Maybe something a bit more upbeat would have been a good idea. I dunno, I don't think that there's anything that Justin can do that will really win him over lots of new fans--as great as his last two releases have been. Maybe that's why he did a slow song?

A performance with drums included like the cd version would have been better and a performance on Letterman. but this choice was not given to him. I have about ten ideas what he could do.

This is the best song on the album by a long stretch and it's a lovely performance. If this doesn't get people into him, there's just no hope.
