How on earth does that work then - surely you couldn't keep a handle on the thread if you blocked out one or more user's contribution?

Not really, but  you certainly prove that an "ignore user" facility is not half as useful as an "Awa' tae crappity smack, Dildo" function would be.

And that just would have degenerated into a childish little flame war that would make this place seem even worse.

This way, once someone has earned being ignored, you never have to endure them again.

"She's done"? Meaning me, for adding a feature? Eh. I had 5 people ask about it, it took me all of 2 seconds, and I certainly won't be ignoring any of you. No skin off my teeth.

But hey, if you laugh so easily, I'm jealous. Smiley My sense of humor is a bit snobbier ;P

You know, the one annoying thing about the "ignore user" board mod is that the board moderator can't ignore people.

Not that I would, ya know, ignore people or anything, but I thought I'd mention it. Also, YOU GUYS CAN'T IGNORE ME MWAHAAAAA

ooh I have a question:
If someone is ignoring someone else, lets say A is ignoring B. Then C quotes B in one of her posts, will A be able to see the quote or not?
If so they may accidentally end up reading something they were trying to ignore. What would happen then? Does the website self destruct or something???

Both are dependent on the message board software being used.

Decent software (Actually even below standard software these days) will 'know' to block quotes if one uses the provided auto-quote feature....

I don't think I've seen a feature added that will tell someone, "You are being ignored by such-and-such member."

I can't imagine why anyone would code such an app.....

Better to have a feature and not need it, than to need a feature, and not have it.....

Many here have talked about some few whose boorish behaviour serves only to drive away new posters.  A readily available, comprehensive Ignore Feature (As available on most other message boards)  might help keep problem posters off newbies, and allow the ranks here to swell a bit....

It's ironic that you push so hard for the feature when your own website says (regarding your "offensive posts" on the forums you frequent):

Well I.m not going to be ignoring anyone.  I'd hate to think I was missing out on anything!

I think the British sense of humour and the way we abuse all and everyone is sometimes a little hard for people to take though, so I suppose this is quite a useful little function for some.

But is there anyone that ClintonHammond WON'T be ignoring?

I don't think there's been a forum poster who was quite so intent in being rude to everyone, while making no on topic contribution, since the infamous Electric Pea.

Right. So, if you don't want to ignore anyone, don't, and then you won't get confused. Smiley Unfortunately, adding the feature didn't stop the complaining of the person it was added for, so at this point I throw my hands skyward and say, "eh".

That would be a bit childish. But I reckon we could work around it by only ignoring his non-interesting threads.

Would that not be all of them?

What's the fun in ignoring people?  it's much better to really piss them off back by presenting an argument that isn't "yer a prick" or "noone likes you".

Clint obviously thinks not. Since he 'specially asked for this feature y'know...

There are  arguments other than 'you're a prick' on this board?  Wink

look for the posts with lots of multi-syllabic and heavilly punctuated sentences.  That's mine.  Other arguments, making sense only to me.

ah, it does.  Multi is an condensed version of multiple so to use it in that context is correct.

You know what, I know I've not been around for a while and I apologise in advance for my lack of sensitivity here, but it has to be said that Clint, you sound like a bit of an arsehole mate.

In fact, not just a bit of an arsehole, the whole crappity smackin rectum.

I'm always prepared to give the benefit of the doubt, but for now the words 'sanctimonious' and 'prick' immediately spring to mind every time I read one of your posts.

Anyhoo, it's always good to come back with a bang (said the actress to the Bishop).

Ladies & Gents of the board, how the hell are ye??  It's been a while.

Pint anyone??

Now this isn't fair - some of us have got work in the morning (& a hot date tomorrow night too!) and we need our beauty sleep, but it feels like I'm leaving the party when it's just about to get started.

Good for you, hope you enjoyed it... KT has lodged herself firmly in the 'no bad' category for me (both in looks and muzak!)

Some good tracks, some bad tracks...still, I wouldn't have thrown a ticket for her gig back in your coupon though.

Arguably it has neither a hyphen nor a space (as in multipack)

I don't think that the common use, as in multipack, is grammatically correct - that's more copywriting type jargon because hyphens don't look so good on the side of a box apparently.

It's just personal preference.
