I NEED! 1st album on CD
01/04/05 at 12:15:21

Undecided Help? It is funny how things can seem inconsequential one day, but in retrospect, you see how important they are. The year was 1985, I had just graduated from high school (secondary school for you Brits). I was working in a record store (vinyl was still "king"- the very first CD's came out that year) and we received a fresh batch of product. In this particular "batch" was a new group- Del Amitri. I was curious and bought the album (cassette tape, actually). I wore it out. As a beginning guitar player and musician I was deeply influenced by this music. Long after the music faded, I continued to be inspired by the lyrics and melodies.... It has been 20 years (!!!) since I heard that album. It would mean a lot to be able to own it again. Any information that would make this possible would be helpful. I am aware that rare albums fetch a high price (one of my favorite jazz albums is out of print and the leeches want $80 US for it!!!!), but I would be willing to pay a reasonable price...
Any help? if so, please contact me at radiclex@yahoo.com.
Thanks and remember to Grin

If that doesn't work, it's been reissued on Superfecta Recordings and you can order it direct. And copies of the cd format are not that difficult to find-I've seen it in record stores for anywhere from 4 to 8 dollars and copies show up on ebay on a regular basis. Good luck!

thanks for all the help- and so quickly... a big thank you to amy, theresa, and rosemary! you girls are nominees for sainthood- keep it up  Smiley

I have enough info to get me started, and see no need to waste anyone elses time looking for sources for this 1st album.
I have never heard ANY subsequent albums, but the sources i've been given are a good starting point....
thanks again,

Well seeing as most people rate the first album as one of their least, if the not the least, favourite you could be in for a pleasant suprise when you get hold of the others... Wink

Well, apart from the dozen or so lunatics who regularly post on these message boards  Roll Eyes (including the UK board which is lost in cyberspace at the mo), they used to have a huge fanbase both in the UK and the States.

We're all still here...just waiting expectantly.  Smiley

8) by the way I ordered the CD from Amazon- dont remember if it had the bonus tracks or whatever, but that isn't important right now.
I'm looking forward to hearing it again. I guess some folks don't know what it's like to have a 20 year old memory byte floating around in their head, but I'm interested to compare what I remember to the original. Was it as good as I think? or was it that I was at an especially impressionable time in my life? or both? neither?
I promise to let you know...lol
maybe we can air it live via sattelite- a man's reunion with his musical memories- a sort of Lawrence Welk moment... (http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/l/htmll/lawrencewelk/lawrencewelk.htm
if you dont know who he was- lol)
ah sweet revery- hahaha  Smiley

remember to...

Oh dear god - it is hard enough to confess to being a Del Amitri fan as it is.  I'd have to give them up if I was forced to utter that band name at anyone!  Shocked

They probably couldn't use it anyway if the original hotsy totsy boys are still around!!

D'you think they've got some hard core fans waiting out there for their reinvention?  Roll Eyes

Glad I could help.  If it is any consolation there are far more pathetic little bands of hopefuls than us that you could have happened upon... no? oh well, I did try... Wink

8)  I think i'll shrug off the pathetic part and reach for some higher ground...
elevator going up!
my interest in this band was only musical and so I am sure that my overall experience is less than those who had a more "emotional" involvement.
What is it that attracts you (all) to this band?
